As the Community Connector, you will be responsible for the development & coordination of the Tipton Neighbourhood Network with the aim to empower communities to take sustained action on volunteering and loneliness.
In particular the post holder will i) encourage residents to become volunteers and receive support to build their self-confidence and create action plans to find and access the right volunteering opportunities; ii) encourage local community and statutory organisations and services with good practice advice & guidance in finding and recruiting volunteers; & ii) provide a collective voice for volunteering in Tipton.You will line manage volunteers & carry out ongoing review of services and work with the CEO to develop new services based on needs of the local communities & volunteers.
You will also coordinate a volunteers led management group to support the running of Jubilee Park Centre.Main Tasks
- Work closely with the STEP Programme colleagues in the development, coordination, and management of the Tipton Neighbourhood Network. Arrange regular meetings and provide progress report on projects, partnerships & development activities.
- Codesign and delivery projects with volunteers involving breakfast club, cooking, arts and crafts, allotment and exercise classes, events and other activities. Register clients and monitor services delivered accordingly to the BWA monitoring framework.
- Identify, engage, and manage mutually beneficial partnerships creating volunteering opportunities in areas of health, education, social and economic development.
- Identify, engage, train, & support local residents as community volunteers and connect them with local service providers to access meaningful volunteering opportunities.
- Work with volunteers to undertake service user consultation, customer satisfaction survey & promote activities through social media engagement e.g., Facebook.
- Provide fortnightly verbal update and monthly written report including case studies to the Chief Executive Officer and/or Development Manager.
- Undertake any other work including home visits, evening, and occasional weekend work consistent with the purpose of the post, as directed by CEO.
