Reporting directly to Andrew Neil, responsible for three revenue lines and all budgeting across the team. Manage a team of five people, three sales staff and two administrative staff. Personal sales numbers over £1,200,000 in 2023. Co-run the wider commercial department alongside Director of Advertising.

  • Responsible for over £1,200,000 in personal sales revenue. Clients include: Investec, PMI, Amazon, Pol Roger, Lloyd’s Banking Group, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Klarna, Natwest, Santander, Robinhood, WWF, Vodafone.
  • Solely responsible for revenue lines totaling over £2,000,000. Co-responsible for revenue lines totaling £5,500,000.
  • Report directly to Andrew Neil, company chairman, on department performance and strategy.
  • Sitting on the company executive board. Input in to company strategy at a board level. Responsible for team and department strategy
  • Line manage a team of five people. Set team and individual targets and manage employee development.
  • Own department relationship with editorial.
  • Selling in to events, podcasts, print and digital media, newsletters.
  • Contacts at all major UK media buying and PR agencies.

 

Key Achievements

 

  • Beating budget by over £200,000 after taking the role with >80% to go.
  • Expanding activity at Conservative Party Conference by a third in one year. Beat our best ever year by >£150,000.
  • Successfully recruited 3 members of staff, all who have now passed their probationary periods.
  • Developing new products from ideation to successful sales.

 

 

Head of Partnerships, The Spectator

January 2022 – July 2022

Built a personal revenue stream worth circa £500,000 (83% new business) in two years during a global pandemic. Created bespoke programs of work for clients across a variety of different sectors.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for generating new business in line with demanding targets in a fast paced sales environment.
  • Line manage a Commercial Team Assistant on a full time basis
  • Acting-up as events team lead (managing three individuals total) during the companies busiest stretch in 2021. Managing team workload and delivery objectives.
  • Successfully write project plans, proposals, phased budgets and pitched at all levels including senior management and board.
  • Extensive knowledge of politics and policy across all Whitehall Departments
  • Event management and ideation.

 

Key achievements

  • Responsible for £500,000 of revenue in 2021. 83% of all sales being new business having inherited no spending clients.
  • Oversaw delivery of a successful two-day program of events at Conservative Party Conference in Manchester.
  • Commissioning editorial content for the magazine, producing a series of podcasts on coronavirus and the NHS, running roundtables on river health and fintech.
  • Successfully pitched for and recruited a Commercial Team Assistant.
  • Organised and captained a Spectator football team which finished second in The Lime Westminster Super League

Corporate Partnerships Manager, British Veterinary Association

March 2019 – April 2020

Built a corporate partnerships programme from the ground up in one year, taking industry partnerships from nothing to the BVA’s third most profitable income stream.

 

  • Responsible for generating all new business alongside project managing all delivery in relation to BVA’s 5 corporate partners.
  • Grew corporate partnerships from nothing to a profit of £150,000 (+VAT) in year one, with a forecast profit of over £250,000 (+VAT) in year two. Partners included Mars, Zoetis, Purina, Allianz and Simplyhealth. 100% of 2019 partners reupped for 2020 with 75% doing more with BVA than they had before.
