About Aishat Rabiu:

Public health professional with a strong background in data-driven health improvement, health promotion, and behavioural change interventions. Experienced across UK and Nigerian healthcare systems, with proven ability to analyse complex datasets using SPSS, Power BI, and Excel to inform programme design and decision-making. Passionate about addressing health inequalities and driving community-focused initiatives aligned with NHS public health priorities. Holder of UK certifications in Health Improvement (RSPH) and Smoking Cessation (NCSCT), currently volunteering with Newham Council’s Health Champions programme.

Experience

I am a committed public health professional with multidisciplinary experience spanning tobacco control, smoking cessation, community engagement, prevention programmes, public health research, health improvement, and project delivery. With an MSc in Public Health, a BSc in Public Health, and specialist qualifications including NCSCT Smoking Cessation Practitioner, Very Brief Advice (VBA), MECC, and RSPH Level 2 Health Improvement, you bring both academic expertise and practical, front-line public health capability.

I have worked across local authorities, research hubs, hospitals, and community settings, supporting health improvement initiatives, behaviour change interventions, and public health projects focused on reducing inequalities. My roles have involved supporting stop-smoking services, coordinating prevention activities, analysing activity data, drafting reports, planning meetings, supporting audits, building stakeholder partnerships, and delivering culturally competent community outreach.

My experience includes supporting tobacco control and smoking cessation pathways, engaging diverse communities, working with pharmacies, GP practices, and voluntary sector partners, as well as contributing to health campaigns and early intervention programs. I have also strengthened programme delivery through performance monitoring, data quality improvement, research support, and the creation of tracking tools that improved service efficiency.

Across all roles, I apply strong communication skills, health equity principles, safeguarding awareness, and a commitment to evidence-based practice. I excel at working collaboratively, engaging with communities, and translating public health priorities into meaningful actions that support healthier behaviours and improved population outcomes.

Education

I hold an MSc in Public Health from Glasgow Caledonian University, where I gained advanced knowledge in epidemiology, health promotion, health inequalities, research methods, public health policy, evidence-based public health, infection prevention &control, and population-health interventions. This postgraduate training strengthened my ability to analyse health data, evaluate programmes, interpret evidence, and apply prevention-focused approaches within local authority and healthcare settings.

I also hold a BSc in Public Health from Kwara State University, which provided me with the foundational understanding of community health, disease prevention, behavioural science, environmental health, and public health systems. Together, these qualifications give me a strong academic grounding in public health practice, with a clear focus on improving population outcomes and reducing health inequalities.
