About Ali Butt:

MSc Computer Science graduate from a Russel Group university currently working as a Graduate Software Engineer at Babcock International Group.

Current placement revolves around the designing, building, and testing of software for embedded systems using C#.

Main proficiencies in Java, Python, and C#, but always looking to learn more.

MSc Project/Thesis Title: Digital Frontiers in Mental Health: Exploring the Promise of Chatbots in Depression Detection.

This made use of state-of-the art machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) techniques to create chatbots that can administer a clinical interview for depression, then assert whether or not an individual may be depressed, and the severity of potential depression.

Also hold a BSc(Hons) in Psychology, with approximately four years of experience working in psychiatric facilities, allowing for a very unique blend of skills and knowledge. 

Currently looking for any Software Engineering roles based either in Montreal or fully remote.

Fluent in English, beginner in French.

The project emphasized the significant potential of chatbots in detecting depression across various industries. Utilising Python, BERT, and Logistic Regression algorithms for text classification.

Also hold BSc(Hons) Psychology.
