Alice Grierson

I am currently pursuing my MBA at INSEAD and exploring career opportunities for July 2025. 

I have >5 years of experience as a management consultant. I have worked with clients in different sectors (non-profit, agriculture, mining, financial services, central government, retail, grocery, telco) to interrogate and resolve strategic and operational problems. To solve these problems, I like to fuse top-down analysis, looking through strategic, macro-economic and political lenses, with bottom-up analysis, by assessing organisational structures, people, and processes. 

To all my work I bring curiosity about the world around me, a strong sense of teamwork, and fun. 

2024 - Conducted market and investment analysis for a private investor. 
Analysed potential investment opportunities and target acquisition companies within the food and beverage sector. Conducted market analysis of the protein sector, pricing/ ingredient benchmarking, financial analysis, and strategic positioning across three shortlisted targets.

2023 - Dalberg Advisors, Senior Consultant

I worked as a strategy consultant at Dalberg, advising both public and private sector clients. My sector experience includes agriculture and agroforestry, social entrepreneurship, and food security. Projects included:

- I helped write the investment case analysis for $55M agriculture programme in Mali: modelled climate and financial projections, conducted programme-level options analysis to inform budget allocation, ran interviews (English and French) to inform recommendations 
- I evaluated capital structure options for a $300M-revenue multinational to address liquidity challenges and FX exposure in different geographies: modelled funding scenarios, benchmarked cost of capital, and discussed investment readiness strategy
- I supported an Oil and Gas major to develop its entrepreneurship support strategy. I line-managed consultants to conduct analysis, plan and deliver strategy workshops, and create strategy documents. 
- I wrote an advocacy report for DFI that was shared with ~40 heads of state and environment ministers.

2019 - 2022 Baringa Partners, Analyst to Senior Consultant 

I worked as a management consultant at Baringa Partners an served on the Political Risk team at the same time. Projects included: 

I worked with the Political Risk team, to create Baringa's analysis on the risks to the major emitters in the face of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We analysed their positions with regard to climate policy advances/rollbacks and the impact in terms of energy security. 

- I advised Mongolian mining company's C-suite on corporate strategy: conducted scenario analysis, integrating sustainability challenges and opportunities into corporate strategy
- I led the design of a new target operating mode in a UK Government department strategy and policy team: assessed a 300-person strategy division, redesigned team structure to enable a reduction in planned headcount and enhance cost-efficiency for a UK government arms-length body
- I led the delivery of a five-year strategy refresh for an arms-length body in the UK Home Office: managed team, held consultations with >100 stakeholders, and created strategy and comms products distributed to >1k staff
- I delivered a cost and process optimisation project for a leading UK Grocer to streamline the pricing process across food, clothing, and home
