About Andrew Forsyth:

Experienced Field Biologist with 14 years experience for a leading UK pest control company.

I carry out audits and inspections at a wide range of high-risk manufacturing and food production sites as well as providing solutions to ongoing pest infestations for national account and local customers.

I come from an agricultural background. I trained to be an engineer and briefly worked at sea in the merchant navy.

Experience

I have been working as a pest controller since 2008 and worked in various roles within the industry. I am
currently a certified field biologist working in the Glasgow branch of a leading pest control company. My
role involves auditing high risk clients and carrying out quality assurance checks based on Integrated Pest
Management principles. I also carry out escalation visits to tackle sites with active infestations and
develop action plans to solve the issues. This usually involves determining the root cause and identifying
proofing concerns. One of my main responsibilities is driving quality within the branch. Prior to this I
worked as a production operative for an animal feed manufacturer. My main responsibilities were setting
up and maintaining the production machinery. I also had a brief stint in the merchant navy where I
trained as an engineering officer.

Education

University of Strathclyde
2000 Btech Manufacturing Engineering and Management
Completing this course gave me knowledge of production and planning techniques from the design
stage all the way through to advanced assembly techniques. Broader topics such as human resource
management, financial analysis and European studies were also included. Basic workshop and
electronic skills were included as part of the course.

Glasgow College of Nautical Studies
2006 NVQ Marine Engineering Operations Level 3
In 2006 I qualified to act as an Engineering officer of the watch in the merchant navy. The training was
mainly at sea as part of a chemical tanker crew with emphasis on mechanical and electrical
disciplines. I also had to complete advanced firefighting and first aid training as well learn all relevant
legal legislation regarding marine operations.
