About me:

I am a Chartered Marketer, Marketing Consultant and Tutor, Agency Advisor and a CIM Fellow. I have more than 20 years of professional marketing experience across technology, property, travel and events sectors, where I have worked both in agency, in-house and consultancy roles. 

Experience

I am a professional marketing consultant, mentor and educator, with experience in the property, technology, martech, travel and public sector. I am also an experienced board and independent director for SMEs and start-ups.  

I am proud of my professional achievements in marketing, both in an agency, consultancy and in-house role. I have consistently shown my ability to deliver results; whether that’s revenue growth, campaign delivery, building teams or exploring innovative concepts. 

Some of the projects I have worked on in the last 20 years include: 

Oracle – I established the UK event marketing team for a marketing agency called Ketchum, which primarily managed event marketing for Oracle. I grew the revenue for this account from zero to over £500,000 per annum in three years. During this time, I built a team of four delivering events and promotional campaigns involving digital, email, DM and outdoor. I worked closely with the UK Software Marketing Director at Oracle to plan six-monthly marketing and lead generation campaigns. 

European Union - I managed the UK execution of a campaign called ‘For Diversity Against Discrimination'. This involved defining and delivering a marketing plan including exhibitions, direct mail, partner media training and collaborating with representatives from the 27 other EU member states. 

Granit – I have worked with this architecture and interior design firm for 15 years, helping them to grow from 1 – 20 employees and with revenues of £1m+ per year. I have advised on marketing strategy and executed campaigns including digital advertising, website development, digital advertising, PR and events. 

Lastminute.com – I established and edited lastminute.com’s blog with a team of 10+ contributing bloggers. I managed the brand’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, including during the Icelandic volcano crisis in 2010 where I successfully integrated with the customer service team.  

OpenX – I conducted a qualitative and quantitative research study, in partnership with the University of Edinburgh, to help this ad-tech company better understand the needs of its target market, and to validate the idea of creating an educational event programme. My research fuelled the successful launch and execution of the ‘School of Programmatic’, a yearlong events programme with every event selling out.

Shell – I led a team of community managers running online engagement for Shell’s renewable campaign ‘Comment Visions’. Working with partner agencies and media owner Euronews, we delivered online content, interaction and engagement from stakeholders at all levels with an interest in renewable energy. 

 

Education

I gained a post-graduate diploma in Marketing from the CIM in 2003-2004. 

This course enabled me to develop further the marketing learning I had completed in my business degree.
