About Ashannay Davis:
I am a determined individual who seeks to advocate for vulnerable social groups - with cognizance of how race, disabilities and social class can impact one's life experience. My current role as an emergency advisor ensures I am a voice to people in distressing times and provides insights into issues such as mental health, crime and domestic violence. I contribute critical thinking, problem solving and empathetic reasoning to these scenarios.
My understanding of equality and diversity has been developed through roles such as being a legal assistant for Caribbean Elective, whereby I devised solutions and risk-managed cases involving severe and continuous domestic violence. This experience saw a deepening of my empathy, and allowed me to apply expertise in St Lucia, a new environment. Furthermore, I have an interest in uplifting minority ethnic communities to create inclusion of individuals like myself. Through my role as treasurer of the Caribbean Union, I fundraised, gained sponsorships and spearheaded event organisation. This was an opportunity to showcase different Caribbean cultures and support underrepresented communities on campus.
My passion to drive change pushes me towards emotionally challenging work and allows me to engage with complex discussions surrounding different societal groups.
Experience
I have administration experience in a range of legal settings such as St Philips and No. 5 Chambers. I can therefore summarise case notes, apply my knowledge and handle sensitive information.
Education
I have obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Birmingham, placing me in great stead to be an analytic and focused candidate. I am well-versed in legal research, drawing logical conclusions and managing a heavy workload.
