About Beth Ryder :

Seeking full time employment in Children’s and Families Health Services where I can transfer all the knowledge and skills I have gained through my 10 years of experience working with vulnerable children and families with best effect to benefit your organisation.

Experience

• Provide quality targeted Stay and Play sessions and Crèche services.
• Plan, deliver and reflect upon services I lead on and support on.
• Offer advice and signposting to families with children under the age of 5 years and refer to other services if additional support is identified.
• To listen emaptheticly to parents concerns about their child’s development and offer them support and advice about expected milestones.
• To be a comfort to children attending targeted Crèche services and provide them with a stimulating range of resources.
• Contact families on our waiting list to invite them to them to attend the Stay and Play I lead on, School Readiness, being ready to signpost them to our website and our other services should their child now be attending provision.
• Enter service attendance data onto excel spreadsheets and update progress notes precisely and in a timely manner onto RIO for children where needs have been identified.
• Manage and update my HCP Diary
• Contact families that DNA a service to give a “Wellbeing” check via their preferred method of contact.
• Support/Shadow Isolation Clinic at Springfield Children’s Centre with Health Visitors. Weighing and measuring children. Offering advice to families around Child Development, Home Safety, Oral hygiene, weaning and immunisations
• Feed back to Family support workers and have multiagency conversations with other professionals involved with families.
• Observe children during services and compile a “Learning Story” and “Snap Shot” for all children that attend 6+ sessions, linking their development and achievements to the EYFS Development Matters, ranges and characteristics of effective learning and plan next steps in place for those children that require additional support.
• Offer advice around SLC, suggesting activities they parents can do at home to support their child’s communication, talking about the importance of being face to face when communicating with their child, to give their child time to respond, wait for their child to invite them into their play and to offer “commentary” during play to give meaning to words.
• Promote EEE during service delivery and targeted doorstep visits, explaining the benefits of Early Education and how they can find out if they meet the criteria.
• Hold a caseload of referrals. Make contact with families that have come through Allocations and offer targeted support based on the needs identified in their Birmingham Forward Steps referral
• Promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle through Startwell’s seven characters. Planning activities that encompass each character and signposting parents to Starwell’s website, Facebook page and Pinterest page.
• To be a support to my colleagues when they deliver their targeted Stay and Play sessions, helping to set up, pack away and anything else they may require support with during their service.
• Participate in “Mandatory” doorstep visits, working alongside Health, to encourage parents to rebook their child’s 2 Year Development Check. Explaining the benefits of the check, asking if they have any existing concerns around their child’s development, and offering to book an appointment for them while there.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance on all recourses, risk assessing rooms, equipment, trips and generally performing dynamic risk assessments.
• Support mothers that want to breastfeed but are struggling or just do not know where to start. Offering advice and support around latching, positioning, mastitis, sore nipples and any other concerns they may have, signposting to our Breastfeeding Support Workers and Breastfeeding Lounge Service where additional support is required.
