Billy Swaine

I am a current MSc student studying Management and Business Finance at the University of York on track for a Merit. I am looking for facilities management, logistics, procurement, buying, operations and supply chain positions. I have two years experience in a logistics role for a small office furniture company before my masters. I am looking for positions ideally in Cambridge and London. 

Logistics Coordinator, RCI Workplace Facilities – Leeds                                        

• Extensive experience of data analysis, I was tasked with making sure the warehouse capacity is kept at optimal levels. This resulted in the stock never dropping below 5% capacity to ensure we always had samples available or could fill small to mid-range orders. 

• Tasked with new product development and range. I was required to find new stock and to ensure it was desirable to our target audience in addition to it being delivered on time. This resulted in the purchase of two new lines of office chairs by the company which are now still stocked and sold. 

• Overseeing vehicle maintenance and the conditions of the work vehicles is a required and well need tasked. I make sure the vehicles are up to date with their MOT’s and services to ensure that the good they will be transported will arrive on time by limiting any potential mitigating circumstances that could occur due to a lack of proper maintenance.

• As the Logistics Coordinator, I organised outbound employees at the yard in the morning providing them with information to carry out their tasks to the maximum efficiency. This was done by providing time schedules and a destination list in order which helps them complete all their jobs efficiently whilst reducing fuel costs and pollution due to the destinations being mapped out. 

• Introducing new technology to make everyone’s tasks easier to understand and access. This was done through the app Team Up, this enables tasks, addresses, shipments etc to be updated in real time with notification being sent to the employees of any changes, essentially streamlining business practices and allowing for a more efficient workforce. 

Postgraduate Study: I am currently undertaking a Masters at the University of York. The current modules are extremely varied, from Managerial Economics to Advanced Financial Management. They apply a mix of theory and real-life scenarios, which, when coupled with my work experience allow me to not only understand them but apply them. Thus, in comparison with undergraduates it would set me aside as I have mixture of real-life experience as well as a more in-depth education due to post graduate tuition.
