Caeley Currie

Recent Museum Studies Masters graduate.

My previous work experience, especially my roles as a Historical Facilitator and Photographic Archivist provide a solid foundation of experience, I have seven years of experience working in the living history sector where I used my knowledge and interpretation skills to welcome and guide visitors, support exhibitions, answer visitor enquiries and even develop training material for other interpreters as well as visitor engagement material in both English and French. I took great pride and joy in first-person interpretation, constantly seeking to improve my performance.  Simultaneously, I provided security and care for the collections in my exhibit spaces. As an archivist, I worked more closely with collection material. My responsibilities included documentation, and care of archival material while answering public inquiries and creating educational social media content.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Aberdeen with a Masters degree in Museum Studies. I concentrated my degree in exhibition curation. I have had the privilege to learn from, and hear from current leaders in the field of museums, galleries and heritage as I complete this degree. This has meant that I am not only up to date with many of the trends and best practices in the current museum climate, but I am having conversations with the very leaders who are involved.

My time at St. Thomas University has fostered my historical thinking and made me a skilled researcher. I have successfully completed 2 independent seminar research projects, and presented my findings to the public via the research fair. I have both scholarly and professional experience conducting archival research and collecting oral histories. The most rewarding part of my education has been transforming that research into curated writings that are accessible to the common reader. Upon graduation I was awarded the David Myles Lister Award for excellence in material history.
