Calvin Oliver

Currently focussed on modelling and desiging the firmwide system of record at JPMorgan. To further my understanding of current affairs, I act as Vice President & CFO of European Guanxi, a non profit, multilateral organisation looking at sino-european matters. I also worked on behalf of the United Nations with the Global Waste Cleaning Network as a Senior Membership Officer, whilst my interest in macroeconomics and the political interplay between global and domestic actors is further facilitated by being a member of the Royal Economic Society and my current MSc studies in Finance.

• Contracted out by Kubrick Group ltd to model the firmwide system of record for client reference data, primarily within corporate investment banking at JPMorgan
• Responsible for delivering key digital transformation programs for the business - Led data analysis initiatives to validate and deliver on business and enterprise architecture requirements as part of an agile framework
• Independently created a repository of all existing conceptual data models and associated logical data models
• Led the Chief Data Office ‘College of Practice’ initiative, managing a team of 9 people who set up regular events to develop the soft and technical skills of over one thousand people

• For European Guanxi, I focussed on fostering a better understanding of Sino-European political relations across Europe 
• Managed a team of 8 people researching EU technological policy in pursuit of strategic autonomy, with a primary focus on the Global Gateway Initiative and supply chain control to produce a policy proposal for the European Commission
• Oversaw all financial operations and prepared budget statements and financial reports for the Executive Board
• Set the organisation’s financial strategy to meet financial and operational goals
• Planned and executed events, webinars and other engagement opportunities, including the drafting of a policy communiqué for the European Commission as part of our annual ‘Young Indo Pacific Forum’

• My MSc is as a part-time student alongside fulltime work at JPMorgan
• Core modules focus on corporate finance and fund management alongside a mix of policy modules on macroeconomics, international finance, and global markets
• My BA (Hons) was in Philosphy, Politics, and Economics which I graduated in 2021
• Key modules included ‘Statistics and Introductory Econometrics’, ‘Advanced Macroeconomics’, ‘Politics of Change: Global Crises’, ‘Logic and Meaning’, and ‘Immigration and the Liberal State’
• Member of the MUN Society and Politics Society during my undergrad studies
