Catriona Smith

I am a diligent, proactive, and motivated individual with strong social skills and a positive attitude. Having just graduated with an English degree from Bristol University, my ambition is to pursue a career in which literature, writing, and communication intersect.

I've held positions in a wide range of diverse roles. As a Student Ambassador at the University of Bristol in June 2023, I assisted in organising and coordinating the logistics of the open days, ensuring a smooth and well-structured experience for visitors.

During my tenure as an Administrative Assistant in the summers of 2021 and 2022, I managed day-to-day operations and customer support for The Small Home, a sustainable homeware and fashion company. In August 2022, I managed operations remotely while the owner was absent. 

As a Volunteer Teacher at Wat Huay Nam Yen School in Thailand in the summer of 2019, I developed engaging lesson plans and provided one-on-one support to students, building strong relationships with students, parents, and teachers.

I gained journalism experience at OK! Magazine in July 2019, transcribing interviews and contributing to creative content ideas for social media.

Additionally, I worked as a Private Tutor from October 2018 to May 2020, providing personalised English and Maths enrichment sessions to a family with children aged 10 and 7. These experiences have shaped my versatile skill-set. 

I completed my BA in English Literature with First Class Honours at the University of Bristol from 2020 to 2023. During my time at Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School (2018 - 2020), I achieved A* grades in English Literature, History, and Geography at A-level. Earlier, at Sacred Heart High School (2013 - 2018), I earned nine grade 9s and one grade 8 in my GCSEs. These educational experiences have shaped my commitment to learning and provided a strong foundation for my future pursuits in English literature and related fields.
