About Charleen Peart:

My name is charleen peart, I am 24 years old and my passion is to work within the mental health field.Reason being I have personal family experience with mental health moreover I have always found the study of the mind very interesting; particularly mental health.I have experience working with children through my job at the nursery, I do this part time with the company jbd recruitment and I would precisely like to work within the children’s mental health field. At the nursery I worked with children aged from 6 months to 5 years old. I also volunteered at CAMHS for 9 months as a mentor, working independently with one key child taught me a lot, such as patience commitment and assertiveness to accomplish goals. My mentee age was 16 and being able to work with any age child from 6 months to 16 years old has been very insightful; teaching me how to adapt to different circumstances and personalities furthermore I have lived in Jamaica for over a decade, which taught me flexibility and resilience when having to relocate.

Experience

I have volunteered with children for over a  year between Camhs and carers Merton. This taught me patience and commitment, I volunteered with children aged 13-16. I currently work part time at nursery through the agency jbd Recurtiment. I have been here for two years and work with children from ages 6 months old to 5 years. Being able to work with different ages has provided insight into different approaches to take while interacting with children. Nevertheless, what remained constant no matter what age is dedication, kindness, patience and being open minded. Due to me moving from England to Jamaica and back again, I have also acquired the skill of adaptability. I lived there for a decade, and this has taught me to understand change and to have flexibility and resilience.

My job experience ranges from warehouse packer at Waitrose, customer assistant at tenpin, retail assistant at Tesco to nursery assistant and I have done these jobs from 2017 to present time. Any gaps in between employment are due to schooling and focusing on my studies as well volunteering. I also have a mental health first aider certificate which I obtained in 2021. The skills I can contribute towards the job include dedication, patience, being open minded, commitment and a good listener. Moreover, from working in retail and interacting with customers I have learnt to converse with strangers politely and remain calm in difficult situations. Also, my interest in watching quiz shows and playing arcade and board games has equipped me with determination and motivation, another asset I can provide.  Further qualifications include A level law and A level sociology which I got a B and C. I have 5 GCSE’s A-C including English language & literature along with maths.

I will contribute my best efforts and commitment towards this job as working with children is very intricate; I have my DBS on the update site and my previous experience working with children prepares me to have good insight into how to handle and manage children of different ages and needs. I believe in myself that I can dedicate fully to this career as well as contribute positively towards the children.
