Skills acquired:
- FPGA programming: Experience writing programs in VHDL and System Verilog and HDL FPGA was used to implement an automotive collision avoidance system during research for my dissertation. Various programs were designed and implemented such as a greatest common divisor calculator. A DE0-CV development board was used for these projects.
- PIC microcontroller programming: Including a group project where a PIC microcontroller was programmed to build a maze solving robot.
- C Programming: Experience using C programming was used in my 2nd year programming modules and to program using the Arduino C variant for my dissertation research
- PSCAD: Used to design the electrical schematic for a renewable power system during Power Electronics and Energy Systems module.
- Multisim: Used to test designs of filters during Signals and Systems module. And in designing electronic circuits in the Analog Electronics module.
- Eagle PCB design: Custom PCBs were designed and manufactured for robotics projects.
- SolidWorks: Used to produce PCB enclosures and to model modifications to a robotic arm.
- Cura: Used various 3D printing slicers to print enclosures and structural parts during my degree and for printing resin miniatures as a pastime.
- Soldering and constructing analogue circuits: Numerous analogue circuits such as a seven-band equalizer was constructed.
- Experience in project managing group work collecting requirements, sizing tasks, identifying risks and task scheduling using Gantt charts.
- Project lead experience: Task delegation, performance monitoring, schedule adjustments and ensuring deadlines were met.
