Experience
I am a very experienced primary school teacher and it has equipped me with a wide range of transferable skills highly applicable to administrative roles. As a teacher, I have strong organisational abilities, managing schedules, resources, and adults and children in my class. Communication is a strength of mine, demonstrated through clear, effective interactions with students, colleagues, and parents, often involving complex problem-solving and conflict resolution. Additionally, my capacity to analyze data, track progress, write reports and implement strategies reflects strong attention to detail and adaptability—skills essential for efficient administrative work. Using Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook is a daily part of my work. I have developed excellent time management skills, prioritising tasks and balancing multiple responsibilities while meeting strict deadlines.
My experience as a hotel receptionist has provided me with a strong foundation of skills essential for customer service and administrative roles. In this position, I developed my interpersonal and communication abilities, welcoming guests warmly, addressing inquiries, and ensuring a positive customer experience. My responsibilities included managing telephone and email bookings, handling a high volume of inquiries with efficiency and professionalism, and maintaining accurate records through methodical filing and data entry. I was also responsible for managing petty cash, processing payments, and ensuring all financial transactions were recorded accurately. In addition, I demonstrated strong organisational skills by coordinating schedules, arranging room allocations, and assisting with event planning.
Having worked in Field Sales, I also maintained excellent communication and built relationships with clients, negotiating effectively. Field sales also develops problem-solving and analytical thinking, as well as attention to detail in tracking performance and managing data. Adaptability, self-motivation, and working independently are key strengths I showed here, alongside proficiency in using technology and software to manage leads, reports, and communications efficiently.
An on going role is my voluntary administrator role at my husbands company, Try Tag Rugby, which is a national sport company. I have been involved since its beginning in Yorkshire in 2015. This role sees me being involved in a lot of sales/customer service/administrative duties such as: social media, telesales, equipment sales and ordering, managing a venue and the staff and teams there. I have also helped write and proofread a range of documents and policies.
