About elizabeth perroud:
Here is a little bit about me, I have a Master’s degree in Visual Anthropology from the University of Manchester. The Visual Anthropology course at the University of Manchester is widely recognised as the world’s leading centre for Visual Anthropology and Sensory Media. This course combines anthropology with practical training in filmmaking, editing, visual methods, photography, sensory ethnography, and sound (recording and editing). For my dissertation I choose to produce an ethnographic film called ‘The Call of the Drum’, whereby I followed the story of an English man named Sam who found his calling in Brazilian Maracatu drumming. Being the sole producer, director, filmmaker, and researcher for this documentary has enabled me to gain a widespread knowledge and understanding of each step of the production process. During the production of this documentary, I was solely responsible for the budget breakdowns, timing plans, location and participant scouting, resource schedule, participation forms, risk assessment, business affairs and financial admin. I was also responsible for the postproduction process.
Experience
After finishing university, I spent 6 months in Brazil as a Personal Assistant to the CEO. During this time, I had some small challenges to face such as, a small language barrier (I had not spoken Portuguese in twelve years, it was a bit rusty!), re-adapting to the culture and working in a position which I had no previous knowledge or experience in. However, during this time I proactively supported the CEO by administering accounts and budgets, this also included processing invoices and expenses. I actively ensured the smooth running of the CEO’s day to day by efficient diary management and errand running when necessary. I arranged, attended, and ensured managements readiness and preparations for client meetings. I also transcribed meeting and distributed transcriptions to staff. I was the key point of contact by email or phone for clients ensuring that any queries were answered and resolved effectively. I was also responsible for the communications with suppliers as I had to ensure the maintenance of an optimal inventory level. I went above and beyond my duties by implementing a new and efficient filing system, which catered to the CEO’s needs. This reduced document retrieval time and the overall organization.
Although I have no ‘hands on’ studio experience I would be very keen to gain some.
Education
I did a Masters in Visual Anthropology, this course is regarded as the best course in the world!
