About Ella Wescott:
I currently work as an agency support worker, and while I love this job, I am interested in narrowing down the clientele to younger children; this is the age demographic in which I believe I am best suited to, and have the most experience with. Much of my experience working with young people involves caring for those with learning difficulties and disabilities, and I am also currently learning British Sign Language at University, which would aid me in working with SEND students. Aside from this, I am a grade 7 piano player, and can speak Spanish at a high standard. In my spare time, I enjoy creative writing, tae-kwondo and art. I am passionate about working with children, and am currently studying Psychology at Reading University, hoping to do a masters degree in child psychology.
Experience
I have been employed as an agency support worker with Prospero Health and Social Care since the beginning of May. While this involves working with adults with learning disabilities, my main roles have been to support young adults or children in their homes or residences. I have worked at emergency placements with young people, wherein it was my role to ensure that they did not harm themselves or others, and work with them towards either their education, if needed, or simply to support them in daily life where perhaps others could not. All emergency placements I have been to have been for young people who have learning difficulties or disabilities, therefore I am more than comfortable with this. Furthermore, I frequently work in 1625ip homes, wherein I oversee the residents, and complete wellness checks to learn whether they are struggling with anything. Furthermore, I have work experience in a primary education setting, wherein I returned to my own primary school and assisted the teacher in every year's classroom, also breifly pulling children out of their lessons to teach them piano.
Education
During my A-levels, I chose the subjects Sociology, Spanish and English language, and achieved two A*'s, and an A in the latter. During my English language course we studied child language aqcuisiton, learning about how children developed language and how best they can be nutured at a young age. Additionally, through Sociology, I learned about different family dynamics, and which facets of education are best suited to a child's growth and education as a whole. As previously mentioned, I am also currently learning BSL which, alongside Spanish, allows me to communicate with a wider range of children.
