About Emeka Okonkwo:
About two years ago, I completed a Masters in Behavioural Economics and transitioned from a career in financial services to begin working as a UX Designer. I gained an ability to communicate with stakeholders and a strong knowledge base in heuristics that proves useful in UX design. Since then I've become fluent in Figma, constantly honing my skills via courses and designing seamless web/mobile applications for various clients. I am a passionate designer with experience in user testing, user research, wireframing, UI patterns, and user flows. Outside of work I'm constantly keeping up to date with the present and future of user experience by reading relevant books and blogs to make sure I'm ahead and adapting at all times.
I'm looking for an opportunity to practice the full suite of UX design activities, whilst working within a multidisciplinary team. Ideally, I would want to work alongside more senior UX’ers so that I can benefit from their experience and assist in the heavy lifting of creating all the necessary UX Design assets and deliverables.
Experience
For the past few months, I've been dividing my time between working as a UX Designer at Lounges.tv, a start-up live streaming initiative for content creators, and freelancing for Propsere, a start-up stats-based app for football coaching. I collaborated with UI designers by helping to develop innovative tools such as Atmosphere Mode, Premium Chats and 1 to 1 Lounges and then presented them to developers, accommodating any concerns or limitations. My insights for Lounges.tv resulted in the ideal personas for testing, and the questionnaires I designed resulted in a final interface that impressed the CEO once I presented the personas to him and the design team.
By setting up interviews and meticulously crafting personas, I was responsible for a 65% increase in content-creator satisfaction during thorough user testing. Elsewhere, I've embarked on multiple individual projects, reimagining old user journeys by user research and designing new logos, banners, interfaces, essentially rebuilding them from wireframe prototypes to final interfaces. I've also done UX projects with Matrix Business Centres where I designed a workspace rental app, SoccerStats and QwikCars.
Education
I spent a year in the Hidden UX Design Placement Programme and subsequently landed a job at Lounges.TV. Also, about two years ago, I completed a Masters in Behavioural Economics and transitioned from a career in financial services to begin working as a UX Designer. I gained an ability to communicate with stakeholders and a strong knowledge base in heuristics that proves useful in UX design.
