About EMILY FORD:

My name is Emily Ford; I am from and currently live in Exeter, having moved back here after finishing university.

I am currently looking for a both permanent job as well as temporary that is related to being creative, as a graduate from the University of Bedfordshire; I have just finished my Bachelors degree this summer of 2020. The course I have completed is Media Communications.

I worked for many years interacting with the general public working in the service industry before I attended university and have learnt about how to interact with people on a professional level. Going to university as a more mature student, gave me a lot of unique experiences and made me appreciate the opportunity to get a degree even more.

I am keen to learn and show my drive and passion for the work that I do.

Please feel free to contact me regarding other job openings you may also have, I will also be available to answer any more questions. I would also love any feedback you may have in regards to my application.

Experience

Shop Assistant

Saunders stores Exeter - Exeter

November 2020 - present

This job has helped me re-learn how to deal with difficult situations in the real world, such as the importance of hard work. I have enjoyed this job a lot, I have met many wonderful people and I am humbled by the experience. But have decided that it is time to move onto something more meaningful and more suited to a long term plan.

My duties for this job are to do all of the regular shop assistant stuff such as stack shelves and greet and serve customers, but on the shifts that I run I have a lot more responsibility such as opening the shop on my own, I am usually the first one there on those shifts and have to multitask a lot of other things that includes - counting and handling money for banking etc, setting up the ATM, tills, paypoint and the lottery machine, as well as making sure the shop is tidy.

Temp

Acorn Recruitment Ltd - Exeter

July 2020 to November 2020

This was my first job after university; this included warehouse work - consisting of organising stock and the management of a part of the warehouse. This was a temporary placement and helped me stay on my feet, during the uncertainty of my life as a recent graduate in such a difficult time.

Bar Staff/Barista

Hatts bar and restaurant. - Exeter

July 2016 to January 2018

My responsibilities were to bartend, clean, bring food to tables, take orders, and keep things tidy. Of all the jobs I have worked in the service industry this one was my favorite as I was given creative opportunities that included making cocktails and sometimes creating new ones myself, I showed my creative side a lot at Hatts and look forward to employing that even more in the future.

Bar Staff

Allstars sports bar - Exeter

June 2015 to August 2016

My responsibilities were to Bartend, clean, serve customers, and prepare food. I worked some of the longest hours I've ever done at All-stars, I've done eleven and twelve hour shifts the nature of this job gave me the work ethic I have put into both my recent work and education.

Traveling

Plan my gap year - Cape Town, Western Cape

April 2015 to June 2015

During this period I worked with a children's charity in Cape Town, South Africa, working at a school for small children, I would usually help the teacher by doing regular teacher assistant things but would occasionally teach the children by improvising, this gave me amazing life experience.

I look forward to having adventures like this in the future.

Delivery Person

Express and Echo Newspaper

January 2005 to May 2010

This was my first experience of having a job, I was able to balance the responsibilities my education and work life. I never missed a day in five years, at the age I was I was grateful for the opportunity to earn money. After I quit this job I started to focus on my studies and eventually used some of the money I had saved over the years to travel.

Education

University of Bedfordshire studying Media and Communications. September 2017 – July 2020.

I always wanted to attend university and doing so as a more mature student gave me a lot of unique experiences I will always be grateful for. The grade achieved was 2.1.
