About Evie Chippendale:

As a final year student at Manchester Metropolitan University, studying BSc (Hons) Criminology with Quantitative Methods, I am passionate about applying data analysis to criminology and understanding how it relates to the real world. I have learned various quantitative methods and tools, such as SPSS and Excel, to collect, process, and interpret data from different sources and contexts.

I have also gained valuable customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills from working as a barista at Costa Coffee for 11 months. I was able to handle multiple tasks and requests, interact with diverse customers and colleagues, and deliver consistent and high-quality service. This experience taught me the importance of time management, organisation, and flexibility, as I had to balance my studies, assignments, and work responsibilities.

My goal is to use my skills and knowledge to pursue a career in criminology, Data Analysis or a related field, where I can contribute to solving complex and meaningful problems.

Experience

I have worked a number of years in customer facing roles, I have gained many transferable skills throughout. Some of these include: customer service, flexibility, communication, consistency, interpersonal and punctuality. Having to handle my studies, assignments and working this role was really challenging but taught me the importance of time management and organisation.

Education

BSc Criminology with Quantitative Methods has enabled me to explore my interest working with data and the passion I have to pursue this as a career. A number of my assignments have involved me conducting my own research using secondary data. My latest report was 'what circumstances have a positive impact on an individual's life satisfaction'. This allowed me to freely explore a topic of my choice and report my findings. The research question for my dissertation is 'Does an individuals' upbringing impact the likelihood of becoming a criminal?'. This will allow me to explore a thoroughly researched topic and get results from real data.
