Faisal Lawan

I am currently a second-year Mechatronics Student with a large arsenal of skills. From programming to video editing, Problem Solving and Analyzing, Word Editing and Spreadsheets, Coding and much more.

I am always looking forward to learning, believing that having more skills will allow problems to be solved more efficiently. I am hardworking, dedicated and always ready to undertake new challenges to test my creativity. When I am given a task, I make sure to complete it to the best of my ability.

Since I built my first robot, I have been in awe of the complexity and beauty of mechanical and electronic systems. Learning about them always inspired me to improve my skills and increase my competence as an Engineer.

Besides academics, I love travelling, creating art, and exploring new worlds through fiction and learning.

Createc Robotics Intern, July 2022 – September 2022 

• Researched different energy storage and generation technologies for the Boston Dynamics - SPOT © robot and identified technologies that increased the robot’s battery life by 70%.
• Enhanced communication, time management, and presentation skills by collaborating with a team of experienced robotics engineers to assess the feasibility of different technologies.
• Built programs using ROS noetic and ROS galactic to report the current physical state of Laptops running Linux Operating Systems.

PASS Leader, University of Manchester,  September 2022 - June 2023

• Organized and led weekly Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) delivery to a group of 10 first-year attendees in my subject area.
• Attended debrief sessions with PASS Coordinators to reflect on what went well in my sessions, any issues and ideas for future sessions leading to creating more engaging sessions.
• Communicated frequently with attendees using different channels, including WhatsApp, Facebook, and Email, resulting in engaging students more widely and increased attendance.

• Practised at designing, debugging, analyzing, and simulating analogue and digital electrical systems. 
• Developed an excellent understanding of Engineering's First Principles.
• Skilled in implementing embedded system firmware utilizing low and high-level languages.
