About Faith Mugendi:
I am a Southampton‑based nurse with a steady, people‑centred approach to care. Since joining the NHS in 2021, I’ve built a reputation for reliability, organisation, and the ability to bring calm structure to fast‑moving clinical environments.
I’m someone who likes to understand systems properly. Whether it’s a clinical pathway, a workflow, or a practical decision, I’m skilled at breaking things down, spotting what matters, and creating clear, realistic steps forward. I value communication that is honest, warm, and genuinely helpful, the kind that leaves people feeling supported rather than overwhelmed.
Professionally, I’m exploring roles that combine my clinical background with problem‑solving, strong communication and other family‑friendly positions where clarity and patient support are central.
What motivates me is simple: making things easier for people. I’m at my best when I’m creating order, offering reassurance, and helping others feel informed and confident in their next steps. If you value thoughtful care, collaboration, and community, I’d be glad to connect.
Experience
I'm a UK‑registered Band 5 Nurse with experience across Cardiac Catheterisation, Critical Care, Theatre/Peri‑operative, and Medical–Surgical nursing. I’ve worked within major NHS Trusts in Southampton and London, as well as high‑volume public hospitals in Kenya.
In the Cath Lab, I support coronary angiography, pacemaker implants, PCI and other invasive cardiac procedures as both scrub and circulating nurse. I’m trained in conscious sedation, sheath removal, post‑procedure monitoring, and safe patient transfer.
My ICU background includes detailed patient assessment, interpreting diagnostics, managing deteriorating patients, and coordinating care within a multidisciplinary team. Earlier roles in theatres strengthened my skills in pre‑operative preparation, intra‑operative support, PACU recovery, infection control, and patient education.
Alongside clinical work, I’ve taught in a medical training college, delivered OSCEs and skills sessions, and supervised nursing students in the NHS. I hold a teaching qualification from Maastricht University and consistently receive positive feedback for my supportive, individualised approach.
I’m passionate about delivering excellent nursing care in every environment I work in, and I’m committed to growing continuously as a well‑rounded, adaptable professional. I bring strong clinical judgement, calm and clear communication, and a consistently patient‑centred approach, staying steady under pressure and ensuring patients and families feel informed, supported, and genuinely cared for.
Education
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and have strengthened my practice with focused professional development, including a Level 7 Deteriorating Patient course (2025), a Level 7 Cardiology for health professionals course(2024), the Enabling Learning teaching programme from Maastricht University, and multiple clinical certifications such as Basic ECG, ALERT, CV&T Introduction, and Safe Sedation. As well as British Sign Language, which I am currently learning. My education reflects a clear commitment to evidence‑based practice, continuous learning, and developing both my clinical and teaching capabilities.
