About Gareth Lewis:
Hello, my name is Gareth. I am currently a student at the University of Manchester, studying History. I will graduate this year and I am looking to pursue a career in teaching and move to Paris in August/September 2023. My degree has taught me to relay large bodies of information concisely and I am ready to put this into practice!
I am a people person; I love working in a team and I am enjoyable to work with, making me a valuable team member. I am also passionate about languages, and I hope to be fluent in French as soon as possible!
Experience
Youth Group Voluntary Work 2016-2020: Held position of leadership and responsibility for children aged 7-11, often running group activities that had to be engaging and were well-received. Began this role when I was only fifteen and therefore demonstrated natural leadership qualities and aptitude for working with children.
Gardner Leader Solicitors, Work Experience Summer 2019 : Gained experience in the legal world by summarising legal practices, synthesising large bodies of information to aid the work of solicitors in the team every day for a week. First insight into the professional world meant adapting to the new environment, completing the placement with success.
Head Boy at St. Bartholomew’s School, Newbury 2019-2020: Underwent a competitive and rigorous selection process for this position which involved producing an improvement plan for school, interviews with head teachers, and presentations to staff and pupils. Formulated and delivered a business proposal for the sum of £10,000, represented the student body of 2,000 pupils, and enacted change in the immediate environment. Acted at the centre of a team of 25 and led progress towards group and school-wide goals. Organised the installation of living wall which left a lasting legacy.
