As a quantity surveyor, I will seek to minimize the cost and risk of a construction project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required legal standards and quality. This includes ensuring statutory building regulations are met.

I will prepare estimates and costs of the work and when the project is in progress, I will keep track of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show profitability.

Working either for the client or the contractor, in an office, or on-site, I have been involved in every stage of projects.

• Conducting detailed cost estimation for construction projects, including material costs, labor costs, equipment costs, and other project-related expenses. Developing and managing project budgets throughout project lifecycle. 
• Performing accurate quantity takeoffs and measurements from architectural and engineering drawings to determine quantities of materials required for construction projects. 
• Preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors. Ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions, managing variations, and assessing claims.
• Implementing effective cost control measures to monitor project costs, track expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities. Collaborating with project teams to provide value engineering recommendations to optimize project costs without compromising quality. 
• Generating regular cost reports, analyzing cost data, and providing cost projections and forecasts to stakeholders. Identifying cost deviations and implementing corrective actions as necessary. 
• Assessing and managing changes in project scope, evaluating their impact on cost and schedule, and recommending appropriate adjustments to maintain project profitability and client satisfaction. 
• Identifying and analyzing project risks, including financial, contractual, and operational risks. Developing risk mitigation strategies and monitoring their effectiveness throughout the project. 
• Preparing and maintaining accurate documentation related to quantity surveying activities, including measurement records, cost reports, variations, and final accounts. 
• Collaborating with clients, contractors, architects, and other project stakeholders to ensure effective communication and understanding of project requirements, specifications, and cost-related matters.
• Providing guidance and mentorship to junior quantity surveying staff, reviewing their work, and fostering their professional development.
