Gigel Dumitru

I have over 9 years of experience in nursing and over 10 years in a middle management position (Army). Likewise, I am confident that I possess the skills and qualifications necessary to excel in this role and contribute significantly to the development of your team. I started recently a voluntary activity with St John Ambulance, a well-known and very respected Ambulance service in the UK and over 30 countries around the Globe.

Firstly, I want to acknowledge that "care" is not just a word for me, but a core value that drives my professional actions. In the healthcare setting, it translates to fostering a warm, supportive environment where patients feel respected, valued, and empowered to live their lives to the fullest. 

I worked seamlessly with care staff, families, and other professionals to ensure patients received a holistic and coordinated approach to care.

- I have a proven track record of leading and motivating teams in achieving common goals. By combining my army experience with the nursing one, I am confident that I can understand both, the deep needs of the healthcare patients and how to help and support the staff to provide the best person-centred care. Only by understanding the patient's needs deeply, by building a strong team, and by approaching the challenges with compassion and a clear direction, we will succeed in providing the care that we would like to have if we were in that bed.

During my NCO career, I developed organisational skills, to be able to assist my commanders to the best of my knowledge. Being exposed in the Iraq theatre to real war, my problem-solving and critical thinking skills needed to be developed and applied at a very fast pace. To provide my team guidance and to prevent any possible problems that might appear behind the next corner...

My Army background makes me now a clear communicator, always providing the best advice, and short, but meaningful instructions to my team, delegating the tasks and checking if those were achieved accordingly and in a proper time.

By connecting effectively with all the team members, I will try to assess the situation in that care home and to see quickly which would be the good aspects and the aspects which will need to be adjusted. I will help the team to embrace the good changes and to lead them to higher achievements in our organisation.

By being able to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining attention to detail, I will support the direct manager with all needed help, inclusive by offering our colleagues a huge number of healthcare skill-improving books, to make them aware of the possible ways to improve their care skills. 

By communicating effectively with the residents, their families, the staff, and other stakeholders, I will try to have a clear understanding of the good aspects, from their point of view, but of the problems as well. 

I will update my knowledge of the relevant healthcare regulations and ensure compliance with all standards.
