About HANNAH CHAMBERS:
A highly motivated and outgoing university graduate and Guide Dog Wellbeing Technician with an ambition to make a change, alongside developing my skills in a stimulating environment. My customer focused work experience allows me to demonstrate exceptional communication skills and ability to work in high-pressure situations with ease. Through my current position, I have loved taking on a hands-on perspective for animal welfare and feel determined in pursuing a career with this charity.
Experience
August 2023 – Present Guide Dogs Wellbeing Technician
- Help people with sight loss to live the life they choose by ensuring the wellbeing and specialist care of our dogs are met. This is achieved through carrying out husbandry duties to provide for the wellbeing of dogs whilst accommodated at a Guide Dogs site. A key part of my role is to identify health concerns, making appropriate decisions and escalating in a timely manner. To maintain accurate and up to date records regarding health histories and the behaviour of dogs. Assist trainers with co-operative training methods that will later be used for a client such as chin rest.
December 2021 – August 2023 Wildlife Assistant at Askham Bryan Wildlife Park, Kennel and cattery, York
- In this role I am responsible for the care and welfare of the animals and assist with day-to-day routine husbandry. I adapt each animal interaction to their unique personalities to ensure their needs are met in the best way possible. I also complete dog behavioural assessments and maintain the facilities to keep in line with safety regulations. I keep detailed documents of all animals and make sure all paperwork is up-to-date and recorded. Work with college students and volunteers and aid those when necessary. I assist with visitor experiences, event management and closing/opening the unit.
April 2019 – August 2023 Assistant Manager at Capo Lounge, Mansfield
- Motivate, train, and lead team members, enhance sales and community involvement through social media, events, and quality guest service. Assist in stock control, producing staff rotas, managing shifts, closing, and opening the lounge.
September 2019 – March 2020 Student Placement at Stapeley Grange RSPCA Wildlife Centre and Cattery
- Received a high standard of training and experience within the wildlife sanctuary and cattery relating to following animal specific procedures, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene of all areas, support, and administration of medical care to sick, injured and orphaned animals. The placement allowed for me to assist with various regimes and protocols, to facilitate a smooth recovery for a variety of animals as well as providing suitable exercise and enrichment to those in need.
