• Open surgery on time and Greeting patients
• Switch alarm on check compressor
• Open blinds, switch monitors on
• Switching the machine off by 9am divert emergency line
• Check emails and faxes on a daily basis and print them off as and when required and print day
lists
• Pull out cards for the following day
• Ensure reception area is tidy at all times in the morning and evening
• Ensure correct money is taken from patient and recipients are given and ensure that money is
balanced in terms of cash, credit card and cheque at all times morning and evening
• Various reception duties, including dealing with patients, arranging/confirming appointments,
answering telephone calls, computer related duties, general office duties including filing and
photocopying
• Helping patients with directions and also informing them of what treatment will be carried out on
them at the next appointment
• Explaining the difference between NHS and Private treatment to patients
• Sending patient recall letters and invoices for outstanding balances
• Booking transport and interpreter for patients as and when required
• Dealing with the dentists, ordering stock for them and dealing with external organizations
• End of day: blinds closed, emergency line diverts, answering machine
• Ensure all new patients have a medical history form
• Ensure all payments are noted on the record cards and on the computer
