About Heidi McGovern:

 

 

Self-shooting, self-editing video editor and creative content producer, committed to ethical and engaging visual storytelling. With my background rooted in anthropology, I specialise in socio-cultural issues, developmental and humanitarian subjects, and in promoting cross-cultural understanding and interest both at home in the UK and abroad.

I am experienced in producing varied styles of visual storytelling in multiple formats, tailored specifically for each social platform. From engaging short documentary features to more fast-paced packages for social media and news, I draw upon skilful editing techniques to form a narrative, then punctuate and structure with concise and informative captions, voiceover and brand-appropriate graphics, filming for both wide and vertical aspect-ratios simultaneously for a multi-platform approach.

Since leaving my most recent role at Newsquest I have been working with NGOs in The Gambia, providing video content and digital storytelling, as well as teaching video skills for social media and best practice to communications teams.
