Since studying in school I knew my goal in life was caring for others but was unsure of which path I wanted to take. While working on PCU and a mental health ward, it has helped improve my initiative in dealing with the various situations that can arise, knowing my limits in the field, and seeking out the help of other staff. I consider myself reliable and competent with a positive, outgoing, and friendly attitude while being able to show compassion and empathy to others, as I find the opportunity to help others immensely gratifying and humbling. As an astute listener, I feel this enables me to empathise with my peers and communicate effectively; I can utilise these attributes in a way that benefits both team members and patients alike. Working through the recent pandemic has increased my confidence, which has continued to grow within my line of work. I have experienced a wide range of new challenges, which have given me the opportunity to gain more experience in a health care environment while becoming more intuitive and adaptable to sensitive situations. I often assume the role of a confidant to my peers in my personal and professional life; this can be attributed to my ability to build rapport and earn trust. I want to be able to facilitate people getting the most out of their lives by promoting health and happiness in conjunction with this. My compassionate and caring nature transfers through to my personal life where I have experience supporting people with physical disabilities as well as mental health issues.
