About holly kay:
In accordance with the obligations of my level 3 teaching assistant employment, I am capable of providing appropriate support to colleagues. I assisted my colleagues in my previous role by learning about my 1-2-1 child's and my KS2 intervention group’s difficulties, growth, and accomplishments, as well as presenting my findings to the class teacher and headteacher.
I was able to broaden my knowledge and expertise by challenging students of various levels, scaffolding their learning where appropriate, and aiding the children in progressing with their learning journey. I led intervention groups in KS1 and KS2 to engage resistant learners in literacy and numeracy and to assist students in years 2 and 6 with their SATS.
I demonstrate adherence to the Staff Handbook, know first aid procedures, and am up to date with safeguarding and prevent policies. I understand children and young people are unable to protect themselves, are vulnerable to abuse and neglect and that I have a duty of care to protect the children from this and to comply with the Children’s Acts 1984 and 2004.
I have completed level 2 food safety hygiene training from previous catering roles. Despite not being trained in Team-Teach Positive Behaviour Management, I am familiar with it and have assisted colleagues with their 1-2-1s when needed. I have completed the following professional development:
- Emotion coaching
- Phychological first aid course
- PREVENT training
- Safeguarding training
- Promoting and Developing Self Esteem and Resilience training
- Supporting Children’s Health Asthma and Anaphylactic Shock Module
- Stammer Awareness Course
In my previous role, we consistently applied positive behaviour management strategies, which I also use at home with my autistic son. I regularly praised the children for doing the right thing and following school rules; this was followed by a reward sticker, house point or a note to the parent.
