Credit control has been a crucial part of all my previous finance roles. As Credit Manager at Baylight Properties, I completed credit checks for each new tenant and ensured all debts were chased in a timely manner. Cash, cheques and online payments were assigned and updated to the tenant accounts daily. I reduced the aged debt of the commercial and residential tenants by setting myself demanding but achievable targets. This necessitated regular communication by phone, email, and letter. On occasion, I had to deal with client disputes. Still, by liaising with the property managers and setting up face-to-face meetings with the tenants, I resolved issues by eliminating queries and instigating payment plans, always maintaining a professional and polite manner. This ensured a positive outcome for all and maintained good relationships. 

At Oxford Films, where I worked independently as production accountant, reporting to my manager remotely, I worked on multiple TV productions simultaneously whilst also dealing with an inherited backlog of work. I proactively identified and retrieved all aged debt to produce budgets and cost reports for the projects and reconciled the cost managers using SAP and Excel. I monitored the production email inbox and responded to requests, updates and queries. I updated all the production accounts and finalised them with the various production managers.

My previous roles have required me to maintain databases, produce sales invoices and reconcile accounts. My systematic, meticulous and thorough approach to this has ensured data accuracy and enabled me to address any discrepancies. For example, whilst at Pelc (Partnership of East London Cooperatives), I raised sales invoices for all their GP surgeries. When a surgery complained that they had been overcharged over a five-month period, I reviewed their contract to prove the legitimacy of the billing they had been provided with and consequently recovered the debt.

Financial roles in media, property and health have required my analysis skills in various contexts. As assistant accountant at Pelc (Partnership of East London Cooperatives), I analysed the use of Rotamaster (the in-house rota management software) and established that there were deficiencies which had financial implications for the company. I then suggested that management add and remove some aspects of the program. This allowed me to extract information and reports that fed into other programs, including Excel, their banking system, and Sage. Subsequently, my department could address issues with the GP and staff rotas, resolve any discrepancies and ensure that payments were always accurate.

I have plenty of experience in quickly adopting and mastering accounting systems. For example, at October Films, I quickly familiarised myself with their Octopus PMI accounting package and was subsequently made system administrator. As such, I was proactive in learning about any developments to the system and instructed the rest of the accounting team and Production Managers about the updates to ensure the finance department ran smoothly and efficiently.
