Translate Tile Game (Part 2)
Another development for my Translate tile game added a dice and many more tiles for players to use.
This version was intended to be used by multiple players and is based on the theory of the eight play personalities.
The eight sided dice is rolled to decide a modifier that changes the way the game is played, allowing players to work together or turning the process of building images into a race.
Many more tiles were designed for this version of the game to accommodate multiple players. I used different writing systems as inspiration and devised a series of interesting shapes for players to use.
The increase in the number of tiles necessitated the creation of an even bigger box which was useful for transporting the game and testing it with other students and a group of board game enthusiasts.

Translate Tile Game (Part One)
Let's take a look at some of my previous Graphic Design projects.
Translate is a typographic tile game that I created for the final modules of my Masters degree. The aim of this single player game is to use the shapes on the tiles to build up images based on a prompt that can be found on the reverse of the tiles.
Each tile is decorated with part of a letter which provides a set of interesting shapes for the player to use. As the project developed, I took care to choose shapes that would allow for as many combinations as possible. The hexagon shaped tiles also contribute to this by providing a grid to work from while also having many different points to connect to other tiles.
The tiles were laser cut and then screen printed and it was quite a challenge to apply the ink consistently across all the tiles, of which there was sixty in total.
With so many tiles, I also designed a wooden box to carry them in.
