I’m Jess, I’m 18 years old and i’m currently going through the classic what do I do with my life? Since leaving school/college I've been stuck with something in my head that’s encouraging me to get out there and put all my skills and hard work to use. I dont want a simple job which is easy money and will land me 0 qualifications. I want to work hard for a qualification in an environment with deadlines and challenges because that’s where I believe I can perform to the best of my ability. I can take criticism and advice from people and use that to my advantage! I can work closely by people and get along with everyone in a team aswell as work independently where needed. My interests are with digital marketing or event management - which are very different, but i’m looking for an apprenticeship which can teach me further into these different roles.

I have been working from May 2023 - Now based in a private daycare nursery that accompanies 5 months - 4 year olds. Working in a nursery you will be surprised with how professional you need to keep it. Besides singing songs and playing with toys, there is a lot behind the scenes which is important: which is having to deal with accidents, dealing with children with allergies, planning suitable activities, making sure their physical development is on track aswell as their learning, safeguarding, first aid, working alongside parents and other staff and helping an individual grow into the best person they ca possibly be! In a nursery teamwork/ communication is so important with the parents and other colleagues so you are aware of how they are and id anything else is going on at home etc. So much hard work and patience goes into this job and it’s a very truly rewarding job after all the stress it can cause!

On weekends and Fridays that I do not work at the nursery you may find me at The Grove which is a 5 star hotel in Watford. I either help out at the Halfway House on the golf course or the restaurant called The Glasshouse.

I went to Future Academies Watford from 2016-2021. I studied Maths, English, Science, Media, Art and History where I received a grade 5 in all of these subjects.

I went to West Herts College where I studied Travel and Tourism Level 3 for 2 years, the first year I received an MMP and I didn't complete the second year due to personal issues.
