Services offered
My name is Jess, I am a hard working and fun individual. I have just over two years experience working with children in a professional setting. I have a wide range of experience with children who have both SEND and medical needs. I have up to date first aid training as well as 11 GCSES (A*-C) 3 A-levels (A*-B) and a BaS Hons degree (2:1) in drama and performance studies with creative writing.
I am passionate about ensuring that every child feels supported, listened to and respected. I love engaging children in fun activities to help them learn and grow as a person. I believe learning should be fun for children, it should allow them to feel challenged, and a sense of pride! I have experience working with children with a wide range of abilities ranging from non-verbal SEND to high medical needs such as diabetes. I truly believe that every child should feel supported regardless of their abilities or medical needs.
Experience
I have had over two years experience working in a professional setting with children, during this time I have observed the various setbacks, milestones and obstacles that children of all different ages and abilities will experience. I believe it is important to remain consistent and committed to a child’s development in order to see the best outcome.
The experience I have with different children, ranges from non-verbal ASD, high functioning ASD and ADHD to children with medical needs such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy and diabetes. I never shy away from a challenge and will always remain calm in any given situation.
I am hard working, passionate about child development and safety as well as fun, engaging and entertaining. I am fully DBS checked and am more than happy to provide proof of this.
Education
After leaving school and college with 11 GCSE’s and 3 A-levels, I decided to go to university in London to study the arts.
I jointed Roehampton University in 2018 and worked for four years (throughout Covid) to obtain my degree in Drama Theatre and Performance studies with creative writing. I graduated in 2022 with a 2:1 with honours.
Whilst there I looked at a wide range of theatre, ranging from musicals, Shakespeare and Greek tragedies. My time at university was spent learning not just about the plays and play writers, but also looking at the impact society as a collective has had on the arts over the years. I learned a lot about different social activist movements as well as how the culture within the arts is constantly changing and evolving.
I have passion for anything creative, I love to sing, act and I even taught myself a bit of piano by ear!
