About Jessica English:

I am a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual that enjoys the challenge in working alone or as part of a team and I can use my own initiative to complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner. I feel that I can use my skills and knowledge acquired in previous roles such as communication, patience, leadership, creativity, time management and problem solving as a childcare practitioner to progress and grow as a person and make a positive contribution in any future role I take on as I am looking to move away from my childcare background and gain new experiences in something new. I am looking for a trainee position where I can learn from the best and show that I can be an asset to any team that I am working in. I am used to a fast paced life working with children and now I am looking for a new fast paced role where I can work with my team to provide the best service possible, whether that be as a recruitment consultant helping people find jobs and employees or in a brand new field all together. My dream one day is to have my business and I believe it is now time to take what I have learnt as a childcare practitioner and work towards that dream in an office based environment.

I would say that I am a positive, caring and patient person with a strong work ethic and a team player, who is always willing to get stuck in, wanting to learn new things to better myself both as a person and professionally as well as offer support and guidance to my colleagues when needed.

Experience

I have been in the childcare industry for nearly 10 years working as a nanny and in nursery settings both in the UK and abroad. I am a highly enthusiastic, driven and work orientated individual who enjoys the challenge in working alone or as part of a team and I am able to use my own initiative to complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner. I am now looking for a new position whether it be in a nursery or a completely new field such as recruitment consultancy or estate agency. This is as I am looking to further myself both professionally and as a person.

I have shared the last nearly 10 years between being a private nanny in London and Gibraltar, working for various families and as a nursery practitioner and nursery room leader.

My previous roles have been both extremely enjoyable and high paced. As a nanny my day-to-day duties included collecting the older children from school, taking them to extra curricular activities and providing them with meals and entertainment until their parents returned from work. With the early years nannying positions, I would put her down for naps, taking her out and about to the park or for walks, booking her into and taking her to play groups, feeding during mealtimes, meal prepping whilst the little one sleeps and just general sole care for her ensuring that she is safe and happy whilst mum and dad are working. I also worked alongside mum and dad helping to ensure we are keeping on top of milestones and helping to provide information and planning activities at home that will assist in helping the little one on her way with her fine and gross motor skills.

Organisation and planning is key in childcare and is now how I work whatever the situation may be as it ensures the smooth running of any business whether it be looking after children, working in an office or even on a farm.

Over the year I was at Little Learners, I learnt many new traits when it comes to caring for children such as different routines, I have worked with children who have special needs such as Autism, ADHD & type 1 diabetes and have also had the chance to increase my knowledge and experience working side by side with special needs professionals. I also formed many close bonds with both the children and parents whilst adapting to the differences in place at nurseries over in Gibraltar compared to the nurseries in England.

In nurseries I have always work as both a nursery practitioner and as a room leader. As the preschool room leader, I oversaw the health and wellbeing of 12 children daily and would delegate tasks to any other members of staff in my room. I would plan the weekly activities to meet all their individual needs based on their next steps. I observed them using the EYFS framework and would ensure that they were all receiving the individual support needed to help them to progress further before going on to school. As the room leader, I had to have excellent communication skills as I was also in charge of giving individual feedback to the parents at the ends of each day, answering any questions or concerns the may have had and explaining then passing on any paperwork that needed to be signed.
