John Campbell

I am a video editor, producer, graphic designer and motion graphics artist working remotely just outside Edinburgh and have been working in the creative industry for over a decade. I have worked with a large variety of clients including Deliveroo, Klarna, Edinburgh International Airport, The National Lottery, and Shelter and I adapt easily to the varying styles, looks and tone of voice of each new client I collaborate with. I am organised, communicative, collaborative, and enthusiastic. I have excellent attention to detail and am passionate about the projects I get involved in.

I have excellent written and verbal communication skills. I have a strong track record of working collaboratively with creative teams and clients to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards. I am comfortable using email, phone, online and in-person meetings to communicate with clients and colleagues. I have expertise in copywriting, scriptwriting, composing and presenting pitches, to internal and external stakeholders. For example, I successfully led a pitch for an advertising campaign for Deliveroo. I made sure I spoke to key contacts at Deliveroo in advance of the meeting to ensure I fully understood their needs and was then able to reflect these needs in the pitch and was successful in securing their contract. I went on to deliver a campaign that Deliveroo reported they were very satisfied with.

I have several years of experience working with companies with stringent brand guidelines. This includes work with Klarna, where I worked with their team to ensure strict guidelines were adhered to without compromising the creativity or impact of their messaging. I created multiple campaigns with this client, maintained a high quality of work throughout and ensured particular attention was paid to editorial accuracy as the campaigns were targeted at both national and international audiences. Overseeing campaigns which are translated into several languages required significant problem-solving skills which I was then able to employ with subsequent clients and commissions.

I have been using Adobe Products and programs on a regular basis for well over a decade. I have always taken pleasure and enjoyment in utilising Ps, PrPro and Ae in both professional and personal capacities. I am incredibly knowledgeable in using the software and enjoy the problem-solving that comes with the skill set. I am comfortable managing a large and varied workload. My work with a busy advertising agency has given me considerable experience in prioritising deadlines, working simultaneously on multiple briefs, and working under pressure. Since 2020, I have been remote working on a full-time basis. Working independently from home requires me to be highly organised and disciplined to ensure I deliver in line with colleagues’, clients’ and personal expectations. I am practised at juggling multiple priorities and take pride in delivering on time.

Obviously, teamwork is vital in any creative industry. I have worked with groups of varying sizes and excel in the problem-solving, decision-making, and collaboration that each project brings. I have produced high-quality content from group settings via Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom calls and in person. Working on an online promotion for MINI Countryman, I worked effectively with a graphic design team to conceptualise, storyboard, design, script, animate, produce, edit and deliver a 30-second video in under 38 hours. We exceeded the client’s expectations, and the video performed exceptionally well online. This is a glowing example of how a group of artists merging their abilities can produce an effective result.

I am a dedicated and passionate video editor, producer, graphic designer and motion graphics artist. Amongst other honours, my short film, Aurora, was nominated for a BAFTA in 2013.

VIDEO EDITOR / GRAPHIC DESIGNER - EMC TALENT / 2023 - PRESENT - Creating thumbnails, social media posts and editing influencer-led videos for social, providing engaging and highly entertaining viewing experiences for various YouTube channels.

VIDEO & MOTION / GRAPHIC DESIGNER - PUZZLE LONDON / 2020 - 2023 - Along with working in multiple roles at Puzzle, I was also fortunate enough to work in a multitude of different settings and locations; Scotland, Spain and the Netherlands to name a few. When I wasn’t shooting or editing, I was creating original artwork for OOH  campaigns, online promotions, web pages and social media posts as well as using existing, client-made assets to create new and exciting brand images.

CREATIVE PRODUCER - NEXUS24 / 2016 - 2020 - As Creative Producer for the Edinburgh-based marketing agency, I was in charge of content creation for numerous clients alongside driving the overall creative video output of the agency. I also wrote, directed and edited TV commercials with the company.

LEAD CREATIVE - PUZZLE LONDON / 2015 - 2016 - As Lead Creative for the digital marketing agency, I was tasked with creating content across multiple platforms on a daily basis. I also helped to develop and drive new business wins for the content division of the business from the company's inception.

FILMMAKER/ VO ARTIST FREELANCE/ 2004 - 2015 - I performed multiple production and film-related roles for clients including The Gate Worldwide and Ko Lik Films to name but a few. In addition, I was also a voiceover artist for TV & radio clients including The Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday, as well as the Yes Campaign.
