Joseph Pearson

An analytical, strategic, and commercially astute candidate that has undertaken an RICS accredited Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Quantity Surveying, inclusive of a 2 year industrial placement with a main contractor in the UK. Pivotal participant in a collaborative project team that has contributed towards the successful delivery of a 619-unit mixed tenure residential scheme with a project value of £209 million, inclusive of an educational facility and community centre. Accomplished all commercial procedures of individual phases and progressed into the role to provide the adequate supervision of a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, while reporting directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor. Enrolled on the APC 24-month structured training programme to achieve MRICS status, seeking an entry level position or graduate programme for the first step to a lifelong career within an innovative and ambitious company in the UAE and GCC region. 

The industrial placement began operating on a rotational basis with a bespoke structure to offer insight into correlated departments, developing an appreciation of the key responsibilities of the integrated project team, including the Commercial, Technical and Construction department. My performance, aspiration, and diligence were acknowledged by senior management, initiating their proposition to extend my employment by working remotely and independently with minimal supervision throughout my final year at university.

Commercial

• Converted my theoretically based knowledge into practical expertise, instructed the fundamental commercial procedures that configure the role of a Quantity Surveyor, prior to transferring my acquired knowledge onto a Trainee Quantity Surveyor. 
• The nature of this project implemented the production strategy to deliver independent phases concurrently, providing the flexibility for me to oversee the life cycle of the project and manage the diverse stages from pre-contract to post-completion.

Technical

• Liaised with specialist consultants to assemble the detailed design in conjunction with the achievement of building regulation and planning condition compliance. 
• Exercised computer literacy skills in professional construction software, such as AutoCAD and Revit, for the production and revision of the projects design information.

Construction

• Deployed on the frontline, alongside the site management team, monitored the construction process of the project and safely delivered a high-quality product, under budget and in accordance with programme requirements.   
• Provided supervision of the subcontractors and enhanced my commercial awareness of the consecutive sequence of work and individual obligations coherently incorporated within each work package during the procurement process.

I have undertaken an RICS accredited Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Quantity Surveying at Liverpool John Moores University, inclusive of a 2-year industrial placement with a main contractor upon graduation. The accreditation by the RICS enables me to undertake the APC 24-month structured training programme to achieve MRICS chartership.
