I have completed my degree in Marketing and attained a higher 2: 1. Marketing has been my perfect academic endeavour. I believe present day businesses cannot succeed without the right marketing team and strategy.

My journey has equipped me with valuable skills in understanding and meeting customer’s needs. I believe that hard work and diligence brings good results. I take pride in my work, I am flexible, with great communication skills and punctual in my timekeeping. I am someone who is prepared to take on any challenge that may occur in the working environment in a calm and professional manner. 

I have always had an eye for a quality product. From a young age I was the individual who would choose the top quality toy car from the toy store (usually being the most expensive). Whenever on holiday I am known in my family for being the one who can negotiate the best price for a souvenir. I am competitive with a calm nature and therefore keen to promote effective marketing strategies, and also to identify areas for further improvements when developing and reviewing products. My schooling at Handsworth Grammar went well academically and I particularly excelled in the field of IT and I see digital marketing as an area for continued expansion. 

Experience

As of January 2023, My current role is working as an Accredited Customer Service Assistant for Lloyds Bank at New Street, Birmingham.

As a Bank worker I have to work at a fast pace, as I currently work for the largest Lloyds bank in the UK. I assist customers with their queries. I gather their financial information and record this, to determine the best lending, savings and business options whilst always ensuring that the customer is always in agreement with this analysis. Within my first four months of starting with Lloyds bank I was expedited to undertake a Savings Accreditation course. This role involves the use of a variety of communication skills, depending on the situation being discussed. My communication remains pleasant and calm despite the need to tailor my approach. My experience in the Banking sector has given me a deep appreciation for the power of data analysis, as this will help to inform the decisions taken when dealing with customers and their accounts, such as identifying sales patterns. I now have a greater understanding of how data can be used to improve outcomes.

 

Prior to my current role, I worked for Sainsbury’s for 3 years as a trading assistant between September 2020 to December 2022, whilst undertaking my Degree. My role was to replenishing stocks but also providing excellent customer service delivered in a courteous, friendly and calm manner. From October 2017 to July 2020, I have also worked a part time job at Aston Villa football club for 3 years prior to my Sainsbury role. I was employed in the hospitality department with a team of colleagues waiting for families of the football players. I also worked in the VIP lounge with the players, ensuring there was a successful service. I was also required to train new members of staff who were inexperienced. In addition to this, I occasionally worked in hospitality at Edgbaston Cricket ground during the same period, providing a waiting service to customers in a fast pace environment. I was catering for a high volume of patrons in a bustling atmosphere. This required me to communicate effectively to my team members to ensure food service was delivered efficiently and on time. I had to be flexible in my approach as I was multi-tasking. I readily agreed on a number of occasions to work beyond my shift pattern.

Within these areas, I have learnt many valuable skills regarding customer care such as good team work, appreciation and how to provide a good service with a pleasant and friendly manner. I have also had the opportunity to enhance my social skills and confidence, as I forged good interpersonal relationships with the customers and patrons. An example of this is when I have to deal with customer complaints, which I have handled diligently and with calmness. I view customer care and building good relationships as essential components required when working in a company. I have an eye for detail and strived to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, whilst working in hospitality, I always learn the Menus so I am able to make recommendations to the guests if requested. I transferred these skills to my current role in Banking, where I understand the products which are important to the customers such, as the types of saving accounts to suit individual needs.

Education

I have had the opportunity to study in greater depth within the field of marketing at university, and particularly to develop and extend my knowledge regarding the best way to advertise, promote and sell a product. I have completed my degree in Marketing and attained a higher 2: 1. Marketing has been my perfect academic endeavour. I believe present day businesses cannot succeed without the right marketing team and strategy. I am eager to share my personal academic experiences and contribute meaningfully within any company i am working for.
