Delivered dietetic advice and interventions to patients in hospital and at home, whilst ensuring caseload management and coordination with a multidisciplinary team, over 28 weeks of clinical placements.

Awarded the Sam Thorburn Prize for the Best Student on the MSc.

Dissertation – “Addressing barriers to accessibility for Life Cycle Assessment of small-scale food production: a case study on homemade plant-based milks”. Assessed the financial and technical barriers to conducting LCAs of food products. Used experimental data to develop recommendations of appropriate databases, software and methodology to assess small-scale food production. 

Industry project – Developed and conducted a travel survey for Sustainable Strathclyde, to estimate carbon emissions associated with students’ commutes to University, and to identify the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic; obtained 200+ responses; presented the findings at the “Engage with Strathclyde” 2021 public event. 

Modules – Air pollution, climate change and human health; Circular economy; Contaminated land; Energy resources and policy; Environmental impact assessment; Public health; Environmental pollution management; Geographical information systems; Waste management and landfill design. Distinction achieved in all classes.

Dissertation – “Antibacterial properties of beeswax food wraps and enhancement with propolis: a novel study”. A novel method was developed to study the properties of beeswax food wraps as an alternative to plastic film in a laboratory-based project. Potential improvements to their food-preservation capacity were explored through the addition of other bee products.

Achievements – Awarded ‘Best Poster’ by a panel of lecturers following a nutritional epidemiology poster presentation; group presentation of a food product developed in compliance with a brief provided by Wm Morrisons Supermarkets plc. was elected ‘Best pitch of the class’.
