About Luciana Meredith:
Experienced Physiotherapist with a demonstrated history of working in the NHS (acute and rehab) and private sector. Skilled in Neuro Adults, Respiratory/Tracheostomy , Orthopedics, Elderly Rehab and Sport Injuries. Strong professional with a Master's degree focused in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Babeș-Bolyai University and a Scholarship at University of Central Lancashire.
Experience
I am a very passionate physiotherapist with a massive background, where my patients are my main responsibilities, working with complex neurological patients, including those with respiratory needs. Working within the MDT and attending patients review meetings, ward rounds and tracheostomy meetings. Managing and supervising physiotherapists, therapy assistants and students.
Since I moved to Great Britain in 2008 I have gained experience working as a Senior Physiotherapist in NHS in neuro outpatients and inpatients on the rehabilitation and acute word.
As part on my NHS job I used my skills as a clinical educator for students, therapy assistants and Band 5/6 rotational physiotherapists on a daily basis, assisting them with appropriate clinical support, advice, monthly supervisions/appraisals and teaching as required.
As part of my current role I am in charge with organising tracheostomy training for all staff dealing with trache patients. I give in-house training for nurses, therapists and carers, theoretical and practical training as well as hands-on training on our residents.
Prior to this, I have used my skills as a private physiotherapist working mainly in community with adults with neurological conditions, ABI and SCI.
I have also worked in the Private Sector where I have been promoted from a Senior Physiotherapist band 6 to a Physiotherapist Team Lead Band 7. I am currently working as a Therapy manager for over 3 years, where I provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership.
In November 2017 I’ve been offered a job as a Clinical Coordinator at London Home Physio where I had clinical duties as well as having managerial duties, coordinating 27 physiotherapists.
I am proud to say that during the academic year 2001-2002, I received a Socrates Scholarship at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston, England, on Sport Science Department, Speciality-Physiotherapy, where I gained a lot of knowledge and skills.
Also I would like to mention the fact that I had a fantastic opportunity to share experience with Neurophysiotherapists and Consultants at the Xi Shian Institute while I was in Beijing, in re-covering patients following Stem Cell transplant.
I have also used my Physiotherapist skills as a volunteer, at Headway East London, a day centre with members who are living with the consequences of acquired brain injury.
I have excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, which were developed during my employment, learning how to adapt my communication styles to gain an understanding. I have experience in communicating with patients affected by expressive and receptive dysphasia, cognitively impaired, with visual and hearing impairments and mental health conditions. Moreover, I worked jointly with an interpreter when treating non-English speakers, as well as interpreting myself for Romanian speaking patients. I am able to communicate complex and sensitive information to patients, carers and other members of MDT, which is often a case in the current team that I work.
Throughout my present and previous employment, I developed and maintain clear, succinct and precise written documentation at a level of CSP standards of practice. In addition, I am competent in use of Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel, internet, emails and fax.
I am known for my excellent skills of working closely with my patients and making treatment sessions enjoyable and pleasant.
