Lucy Hales

I am an aspiring publishing and editorial professional with a passion for storytelling and the creative industries. I have recently obtained a BA in English Literature at Cardiff University. My degree allowed me to immerse myself in diverse literary traditions, exploring themes from the classics to contemporary works. Through specialised modules, such as "Scandal and Outrage: Controversial Literature of the Twentieth and Twenty-First Centuries", I gained insights into how literature intersects with the modern publishing and media landscape.

I’ve cultivated a strong foundation in literary analysis, content creation, and editorial practices. Through internships with Lucent Dreaming and Ibex Publishing, I honed my skills in editing, feedback, and visual content creation using tools like Adobe InDesign, Express, and Google Analytics. Collaborating with diverse teams, I developed proficiency in organising tasks, meeting deadlines, and embracing creativity in fast-paced environments.

Previously, my customer-facing roles at ChromaSport and Cosy Club sharpened my communication and interpersonal skills, alongside my adaptability in high-pressure situations. I’ve also explored the intersection of digital technology and creativity by earning certifications in Google Analytics, HTML, and CSS, enhancing my technical expertise.

I recently completed Channel 4 4Skills Work Experience, in which I deepened my understanding of the creative industry, from content commissioning to innovative marketing and audience insights. These experiences have shaped me into a resilient and collaborative professional with a love for discovering new stories and championing diverse voices.
