About Mabasa Musiniwa:

A CIMA fully qualified Management Accountant with more than 12 years’ experience in Accounting and Finance field, covering mainly Financial Reporting, Budgeting and Budgetary control, Tax calculations, Treasury and Audit (external and statutory audits), having proven ability to implement accounting and inventory systems for new companies. Key Achievements

  • Authored accounting systems and assisted in the implementation of the inventory management systems for the company when it started operations.
  • Facilitated the initial implementation of Sage 200 evolution accounting system and originated the chart of accounts, which facilitates the preparation of Cost of Production Reports for chrome ore mining and smelting, by splitting it into different cost centers.
  • Introduced Sage 200 multi-currency module as the company used various currencies such as the EURO, South African Rand, Zimbabwean Dollar, Chinese Yen, USD, using USD as the base currency.
  • Implemented a system for allocating constructions costs to various projects during the construction phase of the company, this facilitated the correct valuation of fixed assets.
  • Introduced vehicle tracking system and effectively monitor it which helped the organisation to efficiently manage resources, this resulted in 5% cost reduction.
  • Authored depreciation policies and compiled fixed asset register.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation and review of Financial Statements in line with IFRS (including Group Financial Reports) for a company with an annual sales revenue of approximately US$150million.
  • Supervision and mentoring of the finance department.
  • Perform Budget Management tasks such as monitoring company performance against estimates, variance analysis to increase efficiency and preparing annual budgets.
  • Liaising with ZIMRA to resolve tax discrepancies, reducing or eliminating fees and penalties, and filing of returns (VAT, Income tax and PAYE).
  • Analysing and giving recommendations on costs and cost savings and advising the board on the best ways to effectively and efficiently allocate resources.
  • Developing and executing internal controls to improve accuracy and reduce errors.
  • Preparation of audit file and facilitation of external audits.

 

Tatu Multimedia (Pvt) Ltd – Accountant, Dec 2011 ~ Dec 2012 

Key Achievements

  • Analysed the company's cost structure, splitting costs into fixed and variable costs, this assisted the company in the pricing of clients and realising the amount of sales required to break even.
