About Maisie Eede:

I am a final year BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy student at the University of Essex with over 200 clinical hours, working with academy footballers, university clinic patients, and private clients. My academic training, hands-on experience in football and clinical environments, and strong commitment to athlete wellbeing.

Injury Assessment, Treatment & Rehabilitation

During my time with Charlton Athletic Football Academy, I worked with male and female players aged 16-19, supporting the lead physiotherapist in all aspects of injury management. I gained direct experience in acute injury response, long term rehabilitation planning, and return-to-play protocols. I delivered soft tissue treatments, running group and individual rehab sessions, and regularly monitored progress to adapt treatment plans effectively. I also took on responsibility for pitch-side first aid during training and match days, providing immediate care in high-pressure scenarios and ensuring player safety at all times.

Clinical skills & use of modalities

My clinical competencies include detailed injury assessment, ROM testing, postural analysis, special testing, and the design of individualised rehabilitation programmes. I am confident in applying various taping techniques (including kinesiology and zinc oxide) and using modalities such as shockwave therapy, ultrasound, TENS, NMES, and IFT. These skills have been developed through structure placements at the University of Essex Sports Therapy Clinic and during my work experience at Endurance Sports Injury Clinic, where I managed real patients and contributed to tailored treatment strategies.

Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration & Communication

Working within multidisciplinary teams has been integral to my development. At Charlton football academy, I liaised regularly with coaches, S&C professionals, and physiotherapists to ensure cohesive athlete management. I adapted my communication style to suit adolescents athletes, delivered clear rehab instructions, and provided regular feedback to coaching staff and, when necessary, to parents. I am confident participating in case management discussions and understand the value of shared decision- aiming to support both short- and long-term athlete goals.

Emergency Care & Professional Standards

I have delivered pitch-side emergency care at both Charlton athletic and Seevic College, supporting players during training sessions and competitive matches. I understand the critical importance of maintaining medical equipment and completing documentation in line with clinical governance. My training has instilled professional habits around safety, record-keeping, and risk management, ensuring I always operate within the highest standard of care.

Athlete-Centered Values & Professionalism

My dedication to athlete wellbeing stems from both clinical experience and my own sporting background, which includes competitive skiing, horse rising, ballet and participation in the Girls4Gold Skeleton talent programme. These experiences have given me a first-hand understanding of performance pressures and injury recovery. I've also supported mass participation events such as the London Marathon with MS-UK, further developing my empathy, professionalism, and adaptability in dynamic environments.

Experience

During my Sports Therapy placement at Charlton Athletic Football Academy, I completed over 200 hours working with athletes aged 16–19, shadowing the lead physiotherapist. I gained hands-on experience in a semi-professional football environment, assisting with injury assessments, rehabilitation programmes, pitch-side first aid, and pre/post-training routines. I developed key practical skills such as taping, massage, and emergency care, and grew confident managing high-pressure situations during live match scenarios.

I also contributed to rehab progression, helping athletes adhere to plans, adapt exercises, and stay motivated. Working in a multidisciplinary team strengthened my communication with coaches, physios, and players, and taught me how to adapt my approach based on age, understanding, and injury stage.

Alongside this, I gained valuable clinical experience at the University of Essex Sports Injury Clinic, where I provided supervised treatment to a range of clients. This included injury assessment, soft tissue therapy, exercise prescription, and client education, further reinforcing my skills in a structured, patient-focused setting.

Education

I am a Sports Therapy (BSc Hons) graduate.
