About Marianne Cartwright-Hignett:

Owner-Manager of Iford Manor; a large, diversified rural estate, near Bath. Comprising an award-winning restaurant, Grade 1 registered garden, café, farm, properties and renewable energy. Our two local, historic pubs have also recently been acquired by the Estate. 

We aim to ensure that all visitors have a positive experience and leave in a better place than when they arrived. Whether that is through the tranquillity and beauty of the garden; or through hospitality, service and delicious food and drink. 

We work with nature and sustainability is core to all that we do. Food served is made from scratch and much of it is grown, reared or foraged from the estate. 

Experience

Chartered Accountant (CA) and Tax Advisor (CIOT) with a first class degree in Economics from Cambridge University. Followed a career in tax within the Big 4 before moving into private equity working on both the deal and operations side.

With a focus on entrepreneurial activities and heritage in more recent years, particularly within tourism and F&B. 

Partner of Iford Manor Estate for 10 years; 
Partner of Cartwright-Hospitality for 1 year;

Chair of the Historic Houses Business Development Committee (2024 - current)
