Housing Benefit Overpayments Assistant

• Bank Statements - Transfer suspended payments/ check whether payments have gone to the correct accounts
• Maintain accurate Housing Benefit Overpayment Records
• Inform claimants of their debt by posting Invoices and Final Demands
• Inform claimants of their credit in account if any, and undertake appropriate action depending on the response received e.g. transfer to Council Tax/ undertake refund procedure, update report
• Deal with email enquiries

In this job role, I was responsible for the recovery of Housing Benefit Overpayments using a variety of methods to locate debtors and successfully recover money from them, as well as monitor and collate data linked to the recovery process to ensure that the service is providing value for money.
