Ross on Wye, Ross Rural, HerefordshireAbout Matthew Boulton:
I'm 25 and am currently looking to start security work in Birmingham. I am in the process of relocating and currently have a place lined up to live. Since graduating from the University of East Anglia with a 2.1 in 2019, I have worked in a variety of different environments gaining different skills and experiences along the way in an effort to see what works and what does not. The experiences I have had in the last few years since leaving University are varied however I have decided to pursue a full time career in security and eventually work my way up to close protection and bodyguarding.. I have worked in two separate retail environments (these being BP and Sainsburys) the leisure industry and within the private security industry. I am also a qualified rescue diver, attaining my certifications with Rainbow Reef Dive Center in Key Largo Florida, USA with PADI. In the roles I have worked, I have learned strong written and communication skills that are both transferable and effective. My time spent at UEA completing my BA has given me a strong set of IT skills, utilizing Microsoft office (powerpoint, word and excel) that are usable in most roles. Again, I have found that these skills are mostly transferable, and I am organized at keeping files up to date and documents orderly. Furthermore, my degree involved group work projects, public speaking presentations and substantial levels of independent research that were important for gaining my 2.1. I have excellent customer service skills, having worked in customer facing roles at BP and Sainsburys. I also have strong professional public conduct skills, having had work experience as a security guard, learning how to keep to company codes and to deal with difficult situations. I have also gained some sales experience, earning an online qualification in communication techniques and effective questioning and closing techniques training. Since 2012, I have traveled extensively visiting European cities such as Kefalonia, Prague, Berlin, Krakow, Oslo and Naples. Part of my degree was spent studying in Arizona for a year, meaning that I lived abroad in the United States for a year. I completed the programme with NAU (Northern Arizona University) and immersed myself in the culture. This time spent away taught me a great deal of personable responsibility and allowed me to become organized and efficient at managing my life and I frequently travel back and forth across the Atlantic throughout the year. Additionally, I have also visited Mexico and South Africa for voluntary work. Furthermore, I have strong analytical and research capabilities which I gained from working through my degree and am great at translating data into plain English. I am hard working and self disciplined and work well both alone and in a team. I am flexible with hours and I take a lot of pride in my work ethic and am always keen to learn more.
