About Matthew Long:

I am a dedicated Neuroscience (BSc) graduate from the University of Edinburgh, currently working as a Statistical Programmer I at Quotient Sciences. With a passion for science, data analysis, and healthcare, I have developed a diverse skill set that spans SAS programming, clinical trial support, and scientific communication. My journey through higher education and into the world of clinical research has fostered a strong analytical mindset, an ability to adapt to fast-paced environments, and a genuine drive to contribute to meaningful, data-driven solutions in healthcare.

At Quotient Sciences, I have worked on a variety of Phase 1 clinical studies, applying SAS programming to create and QC tables, figures, and listings (TFLs), adhering to CDISC standards. My role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring that we meet client requirements efficiently and effectively. Beyond the technical aspects, I’m actively involved in internal initiatives—co-founding the social team in Edinburgh and acting as a brand ambassador to strengthen our recruitment efforts.

In addition to my professional experience, I served as a Scientific Writer for EUSci Magazine, translating complex scientific research into accessible articles for a broader audience. This role enhanced my ability to communicate technical information clearly and creatively—an essential skill that I bring into all my work.

I am deeply motivated by the intersection of science and patient outcomes, and I am always seeking opportunities to learn and grow. My adaptability, attention to detail, and eagerness to take on challenges enable me to thrive in dynamic settings, while my collaborative spirit allows me to contribute positively to any team I join.

As I continue to develop my career, I am particularly interested in roles that allow me to leverage my expertise in data analysis and scientific writing, while contributing to the development of innovative healthcare solutions that improve patient lives.

Experience

As a Statistical Programmer I at Quotient Sciences, I contribute to the analysis and reporting of clinical trial data for early-phase studies. My role focuses on programming and quality control of tables, figures, and listings (TFLs) for sponsor client data, adhering to CDISC standards and strict timelines.

Key responsibilities include:

- Utilizing SAS programming to create and QC datasets, TFLs, and statistical outputs for clinical trial reports.
- Supporting pharmacokinetic and safety data analysis for Phase 1 studies, including ADME, SAD, and MAD trials.
- Developing and testing standardized SAS Macros to streamline processes and ensure efficiency.
- Coordinating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project delivery, adherence to SOPs, and accuracy of trial data.

In addition to my technical responsibilities, I co-founded the social team in Edinburgh, organizing events to foster team cohesion.
