I'm Megan and I am back in Leeds to complete my final year at the University of Leeds. It will be my 4th year studying as I have just completed an exchange in which I studied and lived in the Netherlands for one year. I have quite a lot of customer service and hospitality experience from previous jobs taken alongside my studies.

April 2019 – August 2021; Waitress at Miller and Carter, Shenley Church End.

Responsibilities

• Retaining knowledge about the changing menu, such as how and why each steak should be cooked and making informed recommendations to guests accordingly
• Demonstrating excellent communication skills when liaising with guests and other members of staff
• Maintaining organization, particularly during busy shifts, ensuring guest experience was not impacted and no one was left waiting for long periods of time
• Ensuring each guest had a happy and personal experience by expressing a positive attitude and bright personality
• Taking on multiple roles on top of serving customers to help other team members such as making drinks behind the bar and hosting

August 2021 – June 2022; Customer Assistant at Morrisons Market Kitchen, Leeds Merrion.

Responsibilities

• Responsibility for making wraps, ciabattas, salad bowls, milkshakes, and barista-style coffee to order
• Working front of house, taking orders, serving customers, and taking payment
• Maintaining excellent hygiene standards whilst preparing and serving customers their food
• Working well with the team and maintaining responsibility for organization during particularly busy periods to ensure fast service of high-quality food
• Having confidence in my abilities whilst single-handedly working shifts on both the barista and milkshake stands
• Completing extensive training in respect of food safety and retail regulations

February 2023 – July 2023; Customer/Sales Assistant at Henri Willig, Amsterdam

Responsibilities

• Confidence in speaking to people from all over the world whilst working in a specialized Dutch cheese shop in the heart of Amsterdam city centre
• Retaining knowledge of niche products in order to provide informative talks to customers about the shop and answer any questions they may have
• Combining the presentation skills of a tourist attraction with the sales techniques of a high-end store to provide a great experience for visitors and guide them on their purchases
• Conducting correct procedures concerning stock rotation and food hygiene 
• Having a keen eye for detail while handmaking a wide range of high-quality gift packages
• Working the till at a fast but accurate pace with a friendly attitude towards all customers and tourists
