Melissa Davila

My name is Melissa Davila, and I study Graphic Communication & Illustration at Loughborough University.  Learning to live independently abroad has given me several tools to help me succeed socially, culturally, and academically. With fluent English as well as Spanish, I'm confident with my integration capacity to interact and communicate with people from all over the world. 

My main interests are social media and the communications sector. My relevant experience in university has lead me to understand and practice different skills through my own design in order to create powerful outcomes. I understand brand identity and the importance of creating a connection between the target audience and the created content. 

I have always been a technological person, interested in art that technology can produce. This being photography, video-making, advertising, graphic design, etc. I have always been eager to create something new and for this, I know I am destined to work in a related field. I want to design, I want to decide, I want to create, I want to be in the world of modern communication, this is why this position is perfect for me. I know that if given the opportunity I have the strength, the skills, the vision and the motivation to succeed.
 

I have worked at a textile company in Quito, Ecuador in the summer of 2019 as their social media manager. Due to this experience I was able to comprehend the importance of communication and the different ways in which one can reach out to the public. Consumer behaviour is key and it's critical in order to create a connection between the public and the content. I learned how to depict the brand's personality, and communicate with different important influencers and bloggers. Simultaneously I learned how to work independently and use my time efficiently; I had to meet my deadlines on time so that it wouldn’t affect consumer interaction, thus keeping them engaged with the brand. Furthermore, my relevant experience in the industrial sector by working as the Marketing Activation Intern for GROHE (fron September 2020 to September 2021), has taught me how to communicate with costumers with different backgrounds and attitudes, I've expanded my ability to empathise and build rapport with costumers, and in the occasion that I face a difficult customer or combative language, I have learned how tap into my sense of self-regulation to calmly and effectively de-escalate customers so I can better assist them. Also, in order to be successful in customer support, you need to understand every aspect of your product or service so you can quickly answer questions and resolve issues for your customers, which is something I practiced daily. The ability to solve problems quickly, effectively, and diplomatically is critical for any job there is—whether it’s in customer support or not, and this is something I've improved hugely and have to work with in a daily basis.
